Beginning on March 22, the Bolivar Police Department will be hosting a Citizen’s Police Academy on Thursday evenings from 5:30-9 PM. This is a 9-week course that allows a “behind-the-scenes” understanding of the roles and responsibilities of law enforcement. The course topics will be hands-on, practical experiences emulating those of police work done by officers in the field. Course topics include 911 dispatch operations, the criminal case process, emergency driving, drugs & paraphernalia, use of force and defensive tactics, and more. In order to take the course, you MUST reside in the Bolivar area, be at least 21 years of age, have no felony convictions or active warrants, agree to a criminal background check, and commit to attending ALL sessions of the Academy. For more information, contact Officer Robinson of the BCPD at 417-326-5298.
