Leadership Bolivar is a unique biennial leadership program tailored specifically for the Bolivar area to nurture current and future community leaders. The program is based on the EXCEL program of the University of Missouri Extension office to better acquaint participants with Bolivar and sharpen leadership skills. The Leadership Bolivar Committee, made up of former class participants, recently revamped the program to update the curriculum.

The program includes a behind-the-scenes tour of Bolivar, a leadership retreat and a trip to Jefferson City to learn more about Missouri state government, as well as weekly three-hour sessions on Tuesday evenings. Weekly sessions include speakers discussing topics such as:

  • Local non-profit organizations
  • Fundraising
  • Communications
  • The history of our community
  • Leadership
  • Civic awareness/Community and economic development
  • Health and medical services

Each class formulates a proposal for implementation of a community project. Previous classes have produced community projects and programs such as establishing the Bolivar Area Community Foundation and raising money for Bolivar’s Care to Learn program.

Tuition for the program is $300 for Chamber of Commerce members and $325 for non-members. A $50 discount is available for those that register and pay in full by October 31. Some scholarships are available as needed.

This unique Bolivar program can have great benefits and significant impact on your staff, your company and our community.
